I get this particular question a lot at happy hour.
Most people think the internet makes it easier than ever to jet to a new destination – but sometimes, having all that information at your fingertips gets confusing. What’s a good deal? What isn’t? Is there a weird detail I should know about my hotel that isn’t in the online reviews? (Like the fact that we have to bring our own towels?)
Whenever I hear that question – what do travel agents even do now? – it usually gets me talking about why travel can be so meaningful!
So I thought I’d tell you a little bit about what travel means to me, and also remind you that my profession did not go out of style in the 1980s with giant shoulder pads.
My philosophy: don’t just travel. Travel better.
What does that mean? It means that if you’re spending two weeks in Europe, I want to help you spend that two weeks in the best way possible! These are the types of vacations you take once or twice in a lifetime, especially when you’re close to retirement. I don’t want you spending even a minute of that precious time wishing you’d booked a closer hotel or gone to a restaurant that wasn’t so touristy.
