5 COMMON TRAVEL QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Travel questions River Travel

Planning a trip takes time and there are bound to be some things you are unsure of during the process. Don't worry, even the most traveled people have questions. As an experienced traveler, I want to help answer some common travel concerns. Let's discuss some things that could possibly give you anxiety before you trip so you can relax to your fullest while you are gone!

5 Common Travel Questions

How Far Ahead Should I Book a Trip?

Travel plans

If you have your set dates planned far in advance, that is great. If not, that's okay too. Generally, the rule of thumb is to book 1-2 months ahead if you are traveling in the United States and 5-6 months ahead if you are traveling overseas is always a good idea.

If you are going to be traveling during busy times, such as the holidays than you may need to book even further in advance, even as far as a year in advance! If your dates are flexible than you can wait a little closer to the time you want to go and possibly grab some last-minute deals but this is not often the case. Usually the early bird gets the worm and last minute deals are a thing of the past.

Should I use a Travel Agent?

Travel agent

Unless you are going somewhere that you have been to multiple times, the answer to this is almost always yes. For a small fee, travel agents will save you a ton. What could they possibly save you? Well, in short, they will save you...

  • Time by planning your trip

  • Hours of Research on Your End by Using their Knowledge and Expertise

  • Money by getting you the best deals available and help you avoid "deal traps" where a deal is not a deal

  • Save you should you run into any problems on your trip

I especially recommend that you use an agent if you are planning a trip internationally, a cruise, or a group trip. These trips are more detailed, so you would want someone with experience to help you.

Is an All-inclusive Resort Worth Going To?

All Inclusive Resort

The answer to this is yes and no. Depending on what you are looking for an all-inclusive resort can be a wonderful place to stay. If you are traveling with family or a group and want to save money this is a great option. With food and drinks included and plenty of things to do, there are tons of gorgeous all-inclusive resorts to choose from.

If you are a couple or individual that is looking for quiet and low crowds on your trip, then an all-inclusive resort may or may not be the best place for you, it all depends on which resort you choose and picking the wrong one for your travel style could make your trip less than what you want it to be. If you are not sure, I am happy to help you find the best fit.

What do I do if I get sick on my trip?

Sick during travel Doctor

If you get sick unexpectedly on a trip, it's important to know what to do. Especially if you get sick overseas. This can be tricky. That is why it is important to purchase travel insurance. Travel insurance will help you find a doctor or the treatment you need as well as cover the cost. Know that your health insurance does NOT cover you outside of the US.

Bring copies of prescriptions and also have a copy of your glasses prescription available to you. a letter from your doctor if you have any conditions that need to be known. Look for pharmacies where you are and find someone who can translate for you if you need. Always keep your medications labeled in their original containers. If you need to be treated for something serious, be sure to follow up with your doctor when you are home.

Planning a trip for a group can be overwhelming. You may not even know where to begin, so just take a few first steps.
