Packing avoid overpacking

Lets face it, packing for a trip can be a pain. What to bring? What not to bring? The struggle is real. We all want to pack just enough so that we have everything we need, but how do you avoid packing too much? No one wants the burden of lugging around too much baggage. I am here to help. Follow my tips below to help you pack lighter for your next trip.

Use a List

Packing Checklist List

Make a checklist before you start packing. That way you can mark off items as you go. This helps you see how many things you are bringing while cutting down on the chance of forgetting something. It's a win, win.

Pack in Advance

Don't wait until the last minute to start packing. Rushing around will only leave you throwing in items that you really don't need. Start packing a week ahead, slowly putting items in from your list. Consider each item carefully that you put in. Planning is key when it comes to packing the right amount of belongings.

Mix and Match Outfits

Don't be afraid to mix and match pieces from your outfits during your trip. Play around with your clothes, you will be surprised at how many combinations you can create. This will reduce the amount of space that clothes can take up. Don't Pack too Many Toiletries/Cosmetics

Only pack the toiletries and cosmetics that you can't live without. Try to buy travel size everything so that you take up less room in your suitcase. Remember you can buy toiletries on your trip as well. Always pack liquid items in a waterproof bag, you don't want to take the chance of a leak occurring.

Limit Your Shoes

Clothes and Shoes

Resist the urge to pack your entire shoe wardrobe. You really one need a few pairs of shoes. Pack one pair for walking/exercise, one dressy pair and one every day casual pair. Depending on where you are going the casual pair could vary from boots to flip flops.

Check the Weather Right Before You Go

Weather Sun

Checking the weather the day before you leave is the way to go. This way you will avoid over-packing clothes and items that you don't need. Pack for the weather that week and don't pack too much if its going to be cold. You can always layer your clothes and bring one heavy jacket and one light one.
